an outstanding piece of J.H.-music, “jazzy”!

Famous international Jazz-musician Wynton Marsalis plays the Haydn Trumpet Concerto, with the English Chamber Orchestra conducted by Raymond Leppard.

who cares about the miserable image quality – when you’re able to listen to that?!!!

“Haydn explosive” – an extraordinary exhibition!

This weekend I visited the “Haydn explosive. A European career at the court of the Esterházy Princes”- exhibition of the Esterházy Foundation at Schloss Esterházy at Eisenstadt.
Whow!
The Impressions I got were beyond comprehension: so poignant and overwhelming! And too much for one visit! If you go there, take time – one hour is almost not enough, believe me! (Ofcourse I plan my next visits there!)

haydnexplosiv003

The visitor’s experience starts right at the entrance and one does not know, where to go or look first: the wallpapers of Franz West, the expansive carpet of Roy Lichtenstein – both makes you suddenly feel that this exhibition is different!

haydnexplosiv008
And you walk through the rooms and exhibits with the wide open eyes of a child and a certain explorer-attitude (this was definitely my impression!) to find out more about this genius Haydn and the influences around him today and yesterday!

His relationship to the Esterházy-Dynasty, the age of his life and the effects of his works – all these things (and much more!)  are presented and documented as well with historical exponats as with contemporary works in a sensational well-founded and appealing way.

At least you go through the museum shop: books, Cds, ….. – it was too late for me to forage for things that might be interesting for me – because it was closing time! So I have to come once (or twice or …. ) more!

daily from 9 am to 6 pm

happy birthday, Joe!

one of the grimaces in the inner courtyard at Schloss Esterházy Haydn would have been admidst ….

… that inspirated modern painter Andreas Roseneder (his language is also “understood throughout the world”) to his “mask”-series (2008, 2009), more

Today, on Joseph Haydn’s 277th birthday (born 31 march, 1732 in Rohrau) the “official” Burgenland starts with the celebration years program at Schloss Esterházy in Eisenstadt.
And there will be some things similar to Haydn’s conditions of employment during his 30 years at the court of the Esterházy’s, when he composed and played for the aristocrat familiy and their guests:
also today and tomorrow Nikolaus Harnoncourt and his Concentus Musicus (with an excellent Haydn-program!) will only be heard by a privileged scene of invited politicians, economic people, sponsors and – more or less – public characters of the “scene” – and journalists!

It’s a question of private imagination power to realize, how many percent of today’s listeners at the Haydn-Celebration-Year opening love music, especially Haydn’s music – or take just a seat in the famous Haydnsaal and try to show the own face in some jounalist’s camera for own promotion aims and commercial reasons ..
ugh…..
In the meantime a lot of Haydn-lovers celebrate their much-admired “Genius Loci” at their players by listening to the wonderful masterpieces of music that enhance their lifes since mor than 2 and a half centuries.
-and so will I!
Salute, Joe!

haydn reloaded II – a modern painter’s view

mask001
Maybe you ask yourself, what kind of portrait should this be?
The Austrian painter Andreas Roseneder (alias “René Desor”, here his blog) was in search of clues to between Haydn’s and today’s “affecting” surrounding –  after numerous visits at the Esterházy Castle in Eisenstadt with his Leica.  His new artworks are the result of a 2 years research about Haydn and the people and faces around him: a contemporary view in brilliant artwork quality, made with the newest materials (the paintings here are made with a special kind of acrylic and vinylic colors).
If you visit Esterházy Castle have a look at the “visages” up at the wall of the Castle and courtyard there!

You feel encircled by curious, funny faces that make grimaces and all are different! Already Joseph Haydn was surrounded by this grimaces when he lived and worked there for 30 years. Andreas Roseneder was inspired by those faces,  remarkable characters to his “haydn_ sketch series”.

“Haydn explosive” – extraordinary tribute to the former employee

the brochure-cover in the style of “tableau vivant”: “Haydn explosive”, © Esterházy Foundation (picture is a link to the big image, have a look!)
The picture shows some of the protagonists/artists of “Haydn explosive”, e.g. the man with the guitar is the famous Jazz-musician Wolfgang Muthspiel, ….

The Esterházy Private Foundation, successor of the employers of Joseph Haydn (- first Prince Paul Anton Esterházy, later Nikolaus I. Esterházy), the Esterházy management tributes their former employee with extraordinary concerts, exhibitions and a symposion in this year.
What inspired me at once was the – in the truest sense of the word fantastic – advertising concept of “Haydn explosive”:
I became hooked on more pictures like those in the official Esterházy Program!

The Esterhazy Foundation (domiciled in Eisenstadt and owner of the Esterházy Castle there) has become pioneer and a model for contemporary, modern presentations and events during the recent years. For the first time there is a big culture organizer in Burgenland (East Austria), able to keep up with the innovative “global players” and open minded in their culture work – in comparison to the, more conservative (“business as usual”), official Haydnfestival in Eisenstadt.
Paul Esterházy featured Joseph Haydn, who walked on new ways with his music (that’s a way we call “contemporary” today, yes!) – his successors feature today’s contemporary art!
Thats the way it should be!
“..That’s the way (aha)… I like it (aha) …!!!..”

“Haydn reloaded”

Here a fresh, contemporary view on Haydn by the austrian painter Andreas Roseneder. Since almost two years he’s working on “…the IMAGE of a so called genius in changing times…”.  [- more to come soon…!!!] -related article: “haydn reloaded II” (with more haydn-contemporary artwork)

Andreas Roseneder’s exhibition “Haydn reloaded” will be presented at the famous Esterháza Palace at Fertöd (Hungary) – where Haydn lived and worked.: opening event on saturday, august 8, 2009 at 6 p.m. (more about Esterháza Palace on my article “visiting Esterhàza Palace”)
